What is a Misting Fan?
Have you suddenly wondered why when you turn on a regular fan, it sometimes seems like you’ve just turned on the only device that sucks all the moisture out of the air? Or how can you still feel hot?
Regular fans blow hot air out in a hot environment, which can’t do much to cool you down on a hot summer afternoon. Misting fans, on the other hand, offer a different end of the spectrum.
A fog fan is a regular fan with a fog set attached. By that I mean that WIRD has built in a mechanism that sprays the room with small droplets of water when the fan blows. It lowers temperatures in a room fairly quickly by releasing these rapidly evaporating droplets.
Today, manufacturers make these fans suitable for a variety of purposes ranging from residential to commercial use. If you live in a hot part of the country you will appreciate the convenience this fan offers.
A fan is a device that makes a room or space feel instantly cooler simply by dispersing the coolness of water droplets in the air, but not so much that you get wet.
How do Misting Fans Work?
When I first saw one like this in a bank, he asked me how she made the room so cool with so many people.
Then I got closer as the queue progressed and noticed that there was a mist fan blowing down the middle of the hallway misting the entire room. I didn’t want to move from my seat but unfortunately the cashier finally said “continue”.
I was used by how the fan seemed to blow off drops of water, but I didn’t get wet. The science of fan misting baffled me, so I learned more about how they work and realized it wasn’t exactly rocket science. First, they can be used in different rooms to immediately lower the temperature.
A mist or fitting set is attached to a regular fan. This gentleman will put steam in front of the fan. The fan takes on the task of distributing the droplets in the form of a fine mist in the air.
When the water vapor in the air has evaporated, an exchange takes place and the room cools down. This process is also referred to as flash evaporation.
Why don’t I get wet even if drops of water have fallen on me? Well the answer is simple. Flash evaporation means that the process taking place is rapid and there is no way the droplets arrive all at once.
They evaporate quickly. It’s all almost. You can only feel the droplets if you look for them and stand directly in front of the fan while blowing.
What Are the Different Types of Misting Fans?
There are different types of mist fans that can be placed in your space. Of course, not all rooms look the same and therefore not all units will work well. Luckily you are not fixed on one model. Let’s take a look at the different models available.
Stand-Alone
These are usually more versatile. Convenient and to use for example when you have space to place them(like the bench room where I first discovered this type of fan). So, they’re great when you need to move it.
They are also common because they can be adjusted and tilted at will. So, it covers a large area. You’ll find that these fans are usually mounted on a long pole and have a built-in atomizer. You can use both indoors and outdoors.
Wall Mount
These should preferably be fixed to a wall by a professional. They are ideal for saving space as they don’t take up floor space or when you want to cover a large area such as a patio. B. on a terrace.
The downside is that these are permanent furnishings. If you also live in a rented house, this can be a problem for you. They are typically used in large rooms where central air conditioning can be expensive.
Compact
As the name suggests, this is a smaller unit that allows you to move around. It is preferred for its portability and ease of use. However, the small size has the disadvantage that it does not have as much power as the other fan types. In this case, the dynamite is not in this small package.
Important Functions
Size
When purchasing a mist fan, it is important to consider the size of the room or area you wish to cool. Make sure the fan’s capacity matches the square footage of the room so you don’t end up with a failure.
The size of the room will also determine the type of mist fan you choose. Some generally have smaller tanks than others and as such may not cool the room effectively.
Movement and Angles
Also consider how the movement of the fan works. Check the oscillation, range of motion, and angles the fan can be set to.
For example, wall-mounted fans do not have the same range of motion as free-standing fans, which can oscillate, swing up and down, and operate at height because the fan’s various mounting rods are also adjustable. Most freestanding fans allow up to 180˚ of rotation, but you won’t find this feature on compact and wall-mounted fans.
Energy-Power
YOU may also want to check your fan settings and performance. This includes speed changes. By that I mean functions that need to be changed, such as low, medium and high pressure.
You can check the rating in cubic feet per minute, which refers to the amount of space the fan covers per minute. The higher the CFM rating, the more efficient the fan.
