Review of Broil King Keg 5000
Is building an outdoor kitchen your dream? Have you always wanted to try any of the outdoor gourmet grills available on the market? To me, the answer to both questions is a resounding yes, and this is my honest review of the Broil King Steel Barrel.

It’s a Kamado-style charcoal grill that uses convection cooking for superior performance.
It has a 480 square inch chrome cooking grate. It also includes a 200 square inch secondary cooking rack.
Its sturdy stand has large wheels, perfect for storage and for hosting an outdoor BBQ party. It also has removable side shelves. Its cooking chamber is made of rust-resistant porcelain, while the handles are made of durable resin.
It features a locking and locking lid mechanism and two front handle bottle openers. Includes a stainless steel thermometer with a probe that penetrates deep into the oven.
Ultimately, what sets the Broil King Steel Keg Charcoal Grill apart from other outdoor gourmet grills is this: it comes with a 10-year warranty on the grill body and a 2-year warranty on all other parts.
The first thing that struck me was how portable the Broil King Steel Keg Charcoal Grill is. I have a ceramic kamado and while I’m happy with its performance, it was too much work to take it out and put it back in, but it was very heavy! Sure, this grill probably weighs around 150 pounds, but it has wheels! And not just small wheels, mind you, but big wheels that fully support the grill.
But of course, the performance of a grill is not only measured by portability. Chops, ribs, steaks, burgers, pizza, you name it, this outdoor grill can cook it all. Unlike traditional charcoal grills that would even burn your food to an undetectable piece of charred meat before you could cook the inside, this gourmet grill locks in your food’s moisture while it cooks through. the result? Nice grilled meat.
This grill has a wonderful thermal construction. The double-walled steel construction keeps the temperature in a narrow range, you need even warmth. It takes about 20 minutes to heat up, which isn’t bad compared to an oven. In fact, it’s fast and holds the desired temperature fairly well, whether it’s 800 or 650.
However, slow, slow cooking takes practice , and this grill doesn’t make it any easier. It is difficult to learn to lower the temperature and keep it there. This grill is perfect for cooking at high temperatures, but if you want to cook slowly, look for a different kitchen. So, assembling it is quite fiddly and a bit fiddly.
This is one of the best grills on the market. I’ve been using it regularly for four months, many of them in very high temperatures, and I still don’t see any signs of damage. A firm favorite of ours.
